Dutch electronics giant Philips has agreed to withdraw its patent lawsuit against the French electronics company Thales. The decision came after both parties agreed to cancel the jury trial scheduled in Delaware federal court, which was set to determine the FRAND licensing rates for patents related to 3G and 4G telecom standards.
The agreement, proposed by the lawyers of both parties, followed the cancellation of the jury trial originally set to start on August 12 in Wilmington. The trial would have addressed the FRAND licensing rates for Philips' patents now part of updated telecom standards.
Philips will continue its patent claims against three other defendants in the same lawsuit: CalAmp, Laird Connectivity, and Quectel Wireless. These cases have not progressed as smoothly as the one against Thales.
