The ultra-compact DLP® display controller from Texas Instruments has reduced its size by 90% compared to the previous generation

release time:2024-08-31Author source:SlkorBrowse:1584

● The new DLP® controller from Texas Instruments is 90% smaller than the previous generation. It enables compact designs for home projectors, gaming projectors, and AR glasses.

● Designers can achieve immersive, high-end gaming displays with sub-millisecond latency and up to 240Hz frame rate.

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced a new display controller, the DLPC8445, designed for ultra-compact, high-speed, low-power 4K UHD projectors. At just 9mm × 9mm, the DLPC8445 is among the smallest in its class, enabling ultra-low latency and vivid image quality for displays up to 100 inches or larger. When paired with the DLP472TP digital micromirror device (DMD) and DLPA3085 power management IC/LED driver, it allows designers to replicate high-end TV and gaming display experiences in compact projectors.

Jeff Marsh, VP and GM of Texas Instruments DLP Products, stated: "Immersive visual entertainment is no longer limited to movie enthusiasts and gamers; it's becoming a part of everyday life for many consumers. Previously, they needed large TVs or monitors for clear display; now, with home or gaming projectors, they can turn walls into any-sized screens and enjoy 4K UHD quality. Our new controller exemplifies TI DLP® technology's latest advancement in delivering stunning visual experiences."

With the DLPC8445 controller and DLP472TP DMD, consumers increasingly seek immersive experiences for movies, games, and TV. These new projectors offer sub-millisecond display latency, rivaling or even surpassing high-end gaming monitors. Key features include Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to synchronize frame rates and eliminate delays, tearing, and stuttering, and advanced image correction for dynamic surface defect adjustments. This is TI's first DLP controller designed for laser-powered projectors.

For over thirty years, TI DLP® technology has transformed content viewing with high-resolution displays and advanced light control, delivering vibrant, clear images from cinemas to homes and beyond.
