Xiangxin Technology has officially started mass production of the world's first 28nm display chip

Recently, China's semiconductor display chips achieved significant progress with the mass production of the world's first 28nm embedded RRAM (resistive random-access memory) image quality adjustment chip, developed by Beijing Xiangxin Technology Co., Ltd. This chip has been successfully integrated into high-end Mini LED television series for leading domestic clients, marking a new milestone in China's display chip semiconductor technology.

This chip is not only the first domestically developed 28nm display chip but also the world's first advanced commercial image quality adjustment chip utilizing 28nm embedded RRAM IP, featuring fully independent intellectual property rights. Xiangxin Technology is the only integrated circuit company in China capable of achieving this level of technology and value.

"Currently, the global semiconductor industry has reached the 2nm era, but for semiconductor displays, considering cost factors, 28nm is the current ceiling for domestic processes," said Yan Chenghui, the general manager and founder of Xiangxin Technology. The image quality adjustment chip requires the integration of various compensation algorithms, presenting high development difficulty and advanced manufacturing requirements, making it one of the display chip categories with the lowest domestic production rates.

To promote the localization of Chinese chips, Xiangxin Technology collaborated with domestic research institutes and, after four years of effort, successfully developed this 28nm image quality adjustment chip in 2023. It features an embedded RRAM storage module, with core technologies and RRAM IP derived from research outcomes. The image quality adjustment algorithms were independently developed by Xiangxin Technology.


As a landmark product in breaking the overseas display technology monopoly, Xiangxin Technology's choice of a "digital chip + embedded RRAM" technology route effectively addresses issues such as the high costs of external memory devices and slow compensation parameter reading speeds, compared to the industry standard of "TCON + external FLASH memory." This chip integrates RRAM IP directly on the 28nm process node, resulting in lower costs, smaller area, and higher efficiency.

Founded in 2017, Beijing Xiangxin Technology Co., Ltd. focuses on developing high-end panel drive solutions and has achieved multiple "industry firsts" in high-end display driver products, including AM OLED timing control chips, Mini LED backlight driver and control chips, and image quality enhancement chips. It is currently the largest display chip supplier in mainland China, serving major clients like TCL and Hisense, as well as BOE, the largest global display panel supplier.

Xiangxin Technology has received numerous national-level recognitions, including titles such as National High-tech Enterprise and Beijing Specialized and New Technology Enterprise. The company has applied for over 50 invention patents and more than 10 software copyrights, continuously strengthening its intellectual property development to form competitive technological barriers and consolidate its leading position in core foundational and application technologies.
