GM Song Shiqiang and deputy GM Zheng Zhangbiao of Shenzhen SlkorMicro Semicon Co., Ltd. attended the “2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau-Great Bay Area Tsinghua Alumni IC Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Forum” on October 30, 2021 by accepting the invitation. Held in the Lecture Hall at 3F of CII Building of Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS), the forum was organized by Tsinghua SIGS and Tsinghua Alumni Association IC Committee with special support from Shenzhen Belon Technology Co., Ltd., a company established by Tsinghua alumni. Mr. Song said that the decision was aimed to establish the ecosystem of Slkor (www.slkormicro.com) and to facilitate Slkor’s all-round and healthy development!

With the purpose of gathering Tsinghua alumni in the integrated circuit field, the forum was aimed to integrate the efforts of Tsinghua alumni in the integrated circuit industry in the Greater Bay Area, boost the cooperation between industry, academia and research in the field of integrated circuit, provide a platform between school and enterprise, reinforce talent training and research on topics with the joint efforts of schools and enterprises, and facilitate the development of integrated circuit industry in the Greater Bay Area as well as the related disciplines of the alma mater. Tang Jie, the Secretary General of Tsinghua Alumni Association, Cai Jian, the Party Secretary of Tsinghua University School of Integrated Circuits, and Wu Xiaofeng, the Party Secretary of Tsinghua SIGS and the President of Shenzhen Tsinghua University Alumni Association, attended the forum and delivered a speech respectively. Over 100 persons, including Professor Wang Zhihua, IEEE fellow and School of Integrated Circuits, Tsinghua University, teacher representatives from integrated circuit-related disciplines ofTsinghua SIGS, as well as the representatives in academia, enterprises and investors in integrated circuit field of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Greater Bay Area attended the forum, which was hosted by Feng Haigang, the Associate Professor of Tsinghua SIGS.

The roundtable forum was hosted by Wang Zhihua. Focusing on the theme of new opportunities for IC industry-university-research alliance, the forum addressed how the industry-university-research alliance might work more effectively in the current situation of limited IC production capacity and talent shortage. As guests, Lang Hongbing, founder of Belon Technology, Chen Yupeng, senior engineer of Pengcheng Lab, Chen Xi, founder of Xihua Technology, Chen Tao, founder of Sibroad, Wang Shaohua, general manager of Huixin Equity Investment, and Feng Haigang discussed on site.

As Wang Zhihua said, China’s chip industry is facing three challenges –insufficient products, poor production capacity and shortage of talents, and he also proposed three approaches to solve shortage of talents at present: Recruit high-level talents from overseas, attract high quality talents from other industries, and cultivate new generation talents in a down-to-earth manner. The discussions and exchanges were made by Wang Shaohua, Chen Tao, Chen Xi, Chen Yupeng and Lang Hongbing from such fields as IC investment, enterprise employment, crossover entrepreneurship, relationship between talent cultivation and high-level achievements, and joint development of related enterprises. Feng Haigang said that enterprises should also bear the holy mission of talent cultivation and hoped that all alumni enterprises could provide opportunities and platforms for students and work together with the university to cultivate IC talents demanded by China.

This forum has united all professionals specialized in integrated circuit from Tsinghua University and given an active response to the national strategy of building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, bringing certain suggestions on the two major challenges of poor IC capacity and shortage of talents. It is also a golden chance toestablish a long-term and stable cooperation model between universities and enterprises, break through all barriers between academia and industry, boost the high-quality development of the IC industry in the Greater Bay Area and Tsinghua University’s IC disciplines, and make contributions further to China’s breakthrough of technical “restrictions”.

The forum was targeted at alumni specialized in integrated circuit from Tsinghua University and played a significant role in facilitating Slkor’s ecological construction. Furthermore, it has deepened Slkor’s brand awareness and corporate influence in the field of integrated circuits, facilitated Slkor’s development in the domestication of power devices, boosted Slkor’s ecological construction, contributed to its rapid development and contributed to China’s breakthrough on technical “restrictions”.
