Global Semiconductor Industry Updates

1. In 2025, South Korea will provide $1.43 billion in low-interest loans to support the semiconductor industry.  

2. Foxconn has invested $33 million to acquire land and facilities in Texas, USA, with plans to expand the production of AI servers.  

3. Samsung Electronics has achieved a significant technological breakthrough in 3D NAND flash memory production, successfully reducing the use of photoresist in the photolithography process.  

4. The U.S. antitrust authorities have launched an extensive investigation into Microsoft, focusing on cloud computing, software licensing, cybersecurity products, and artificial intelligence products.  

5. The highly anticipated trial in the Changsha Mito fishing case has finally begun. After multiple delays, Judge Luo Weiming has decided to open the trial at 2:00 PM on the afternoon of the 28th, which may mark an important turning point in such cases. At the second-instance hearing at the Jiangsu High Court, Huayi Jin's Wang Hansheng from Wuxi and Junyang Engineering's Lu Xiaoqian from Nantong will challenge Mito's Yang Haijun and Liu Bo in court. Several victims of Mito from Wuhan and Shanghai have traveled to the court to observe the proceedings, while tens of thousands of defendants involved with Mito will be watching the live broadcast via the Jiangsu High People's Court website or the China Court Trial Public Network. There are expectations that the Mito gang will be handed over to the public security authorities for legal action!

China Semiconductor Industry Updates

1. Xi'an Jiaotong University’s "2-inch single crystal diamond heteroepitaxial self-supporting substrates achieved localization" has been awarded one of the Top 10 Advances in China’s Third-Generation Semiconductor Technology for 2024.  

2. The "Integrated Circuit Industry Talent Forum," one of the three major industry forums at the 2024 Pudong International Talent Harbor Forum, will be grandly inaugurated on December 7th at the Zhangjiang Science Hall.  

3. Slkor (www.slkoric.com) has achieved excellent results with its popular science video series on its video account, with individual videos reaching up to 47,000 views.  

4. Wuhan Industrial Innovation and Development Research Institute, Wuhan Xinxin, and other companies have established a high-end chip alliance.  

5. The 2024 Forum on Integrated Circuit Special Processes and Advanced Packaging & Testing Technologies will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan, on November 29th.  

6. TSMC’s 2nm advanced process in Taiwan is expected to begin mass production in 2025.
