Navigating through the mist, finally glimpsing the light — Reflections on my internship at SLKOR Semiconductor

release time:2024-07-31Author source:Intern at SLKOR, Fan YuyangBrowse:5755

For a student like me from the City University of Macau, enjoying a lengthy three-month holiday, summer internships have become an unavoidable topic. Hence, I began scouring various job websites where the line between truth and falsehood blurred, leaving me, a first-time intern seeker, disoriented amidst a vast sea of confusing information. It felt like being lost in a foggy ocean, suddenly directionless.

However, perseverance pays off. The posting for 'Summer Internship in Marketing at SLKOR and Kinghelm' illuminated my path. What particularly caught my attention was the mention of the company's basketball team and regular matches—an irresistible perk for someone passionate about basketball. With determined resolve, I submitted my resume and went through the interview process. Successfully passing the interview, I finally fulfilled my wish to join the SLKOR family.

The importance of a first job is self-evident. Before starting, I experienced a mix of emotions—confusion, excitement, apprehension, and anticipation—all swirling within me. However, once I began working, the simple and harmonious work environment, the warmly professional senior colleagues, and the opportunity to utilize my skills made me increasingly relaxed. It felt like the fog was clearing, with a warm ray of sunshine touching my life.

Many "firsts" remain vivid in my memory, deeply moving me: my first internship shattered my expectations of a stagnant and cutthroat workplace environment; my first designated workspace where I diligently handled daily tasks, constantly learning and improving; my first paycheck earned through my own efforts, suddenly realizing I had transitioned from campus life to the workforce, experiencing the bittersweet taste of being a working individual—somewhat surprisingly sweet; my first mentors, Guo Jie and Yajun Jie, who guided me with their wisdom and cared for me like a gentle breeze of spring.

General Manager Song Shiqiang encourages interns to ask questions boldly and think critically

What touched me deeply and filled me with gratitude is that SLKOR, this big family, acted as a beacon guiding me through the fog towards brightness. I remember when General Manager Song Shiqiang of SLKOR trained us on the key points of "Daiminghuan" (PDCA) management. To encourage interns to ask questions boldly and think critically, Mr. Song Shiqiang implemented a red envelope reward system. Several interns received exclusive red envelopes, which greatly encouraged us.

I also recall the heartwarming "Huaqiang North Umbrella Donation" public welfare event by SLKOR, where we witnessed beautiful water droplets blooming on umbrellas adorned with the logo Slkor’. More beautiful still were the warm smiles on the faces of pedestrians receiving these umbrellas in the rain. Additionally, we participated together in SLKOR brand's "1117-3.3" strong sales promotion and the SLKOR fan giveaway event. We also visited the SLKOR factory and its automated warehouse as a group, gaining insights into the factory's production processes and warehouse management knowledge.

After all interns completed their internships and joined the company, we were warmly welcomed with a collective dinner.

Of particular note, this job has also nurtured entrepreneurial ideas within me. Influenced by my father, the seed of entrepreneurship has been planted in my heart since childhood, and over time and with increased social experience, this seed has begun to sprout. "Seemingly ordinary yet extraordinarily distinctive, achieving success appears easy but is filled with challenges." Entrepreneurship is a perilous journey, as Mr. Song Shiqiang shared during training, recounting his firsthand "battles" in Huaqiangbei and imparting invaluable experiences to us without reservation. His internationalization strategy, forward-looking planning, brand promotion strategies, and management approaches have all been immensely beneficial to me.

What's even more valuable is Mr. Song Shiqiang's approachable nature as our "elder friend." During breaks at work, he engages us in discussions on hobbies such as basketball or shares insights. The company led by Mr. Song Shiqiang, SLKOR and Kinghelm, prioritizes human-centric management, evident in its relaxed work atmosphere, diverse team-building activities, and punctual end-of-day times. This environment proves his belief that only when employees are happy and content can a company truly thrive.

In summary, I used to feel like a traveler wandering in mist, filled with inner confusion and facing a chaotic landscape ahead, unsure of where my future path lay. Standing at the crossroads of life, my heart was even more lost. However, after joining the SLKOR family under the leadership of Mr. Song Shiqiang and completing over a month of internship, I feel as if a compass has been planted deep within my heart. This clarity has gradually sharpened my goals and clarified my direction. Finally, I know where my heart truly lies. I believe that in the remaining years of my university life, I will navigate through the layers of fog and eventually see the bright light that I have been longing for!
